Porcupine Mountains State Park Cross Country Ski Trails - Silver City, MI
Categories: Cross Country, XC Ski Area
Four main and several smaller trails combine to form the 42 KM Nordic Trail System at the Porcupine Mountains State Park.
The cross country ski trails encircle the lift-served Alpine Ski Area with numerous scenic loops. Trails are track set with a power-tiller equipped groomer. Warming huts are located along the Log Camp Loop and Union Spring Trails. Daily and season trail passes are available at the chalet and include a one-ride lift ticket to the summit. Winter interpretive activities include guided snowshoe hike and lantern light skiing. Check at the chalet for scheduling.

Our trail system consists of five different loops that provide 24 kilometers of skiing for both striders and skaters. We operate on a donation basis and since all of our funding comes from memberships and donations, we ask that you please remember us when you pass by the donation boxes located at all major trailheads and our chalet. All of our grooming is performed by volunteers but the machines and the fuel they use cost quite a bit.
Our location, in the middle of the Lake Superior snow belt called Big Snow Country, provides us with snow that tends to arrive earlier, pile deeper, and last longer than anywhere else in the Midwest! Abundant snow, coupled with the natural rolling terrain in our northern hardwood forest, makes for a wonderful winter experience. So bring your skis or snowshoes and give us a try.
Should you ever wish to get in touch with us, simply our chalet at 906-932-0347 and leave a message, or email at uptrek@gmail.com
